Der Gleisdorfer Ölkürbis rankt stark und wächst üppig. Die nussig schmeckenden Kürbiskerne haben keine Schale und sind dadurch direkt zum Verzehr geeignet. Sie werden als Prostata-Heilmittel verwendet. Das Fruchtfleisch junger und älterer Früchte wird wie Zucchini verwendet, zum Beispiel geraspelt in Kuchen und Brot. Die Früchte dieser Sorte sind 3 - 7 kg schwer und eignen sich sehr gut zum Schnitzen für eine kreative Herbstdekoration. Die Kürbiskerne bitte luftig lagern. Um die Kerne weiter zu verfeinern, können sie auch geröstet werrden.
